The terra alma Difference

terra alma approaches commercial real estate a bit differently. And we think different is good! As a team of five highly driven women, terra alma looks at the world from a woman's perspective.

"When pitching a development/redevelopment opportunity in a room full of men, I often start the conversation with, ‘_______, I really like your shirt,  where did you get it?’" said Edie Weintraub, Founder and Chief Community Builder at terra alma. "And typically, the response is ‘My wife, girlfriend or mother bought it for me.’"

Who shops? Women do.

The next question tends to be, "Where are you eating for dinner?" And you guessed it; the answer is similar, "Wherever my wife chooses or whatever my girlfriend bought at the grocery store."

The truth is that women make 99% of all retail decisions. According to Forbes, women drive 70-80% of all consumer purchasing decisions in the U.S. In 20 Facts and Figures to Know When Marketing to Women, Krystle M. Davis states that "women dominate consumer purchasing decisions."

However, most of the commercial real estate space is still heavily dominated by men. Retail real estate needs to cater more to the end user, hire more women and diversify the industry.

Edie recently relaunched #womeninrestaurants, a platform for women in the restaurant business to help them build connections, find investors and grow their businesses. Co-hosted with Kelli Potter-Ferrell, founder of Nana’s Chicken and Waffles, #womenilnrestaurants provides a lively, engaging forum for women in the restaurant industry.

The team at terra alma also invests time into growing relationships with investors, contractors, architects and other influencers in the industry. By introducing clients to these key influencers, they provide much more than site selection and lease negotiations, they are truly invested in seeing clients expand their business and thrive.

Communication is another critical part of the terra alma difference. This starts with getting to know the client, the brand and the brand's customers. Understanding what the client is looking for and why is essential. Creating spaces that become places where people gather and socialize is important for terra alma. This doesn’t happen by chance; it starts with conversations and communication.

Here's what clients have to say.

Terra Alma is different because of their passion. Edie and her team work tirelessly to find the critical pieces of the retail puzzle. But it's much more than just brokerage for them; they are committed to creating and fostering community, and that's what makes them special.

I first met Edie at Chattahoochee Food Works, where she was helping a small start-up business. After Edie shared terra alma's process, I signed up. I recommend Edie, Michaela and terra alma as partners to make your dreams come to life. It's all about communication, and the team at terra alma communicates well and professionally. - Justin Douglas, Owner of Simple Man Distillery
